Four parts of a conversation
1. Body and Brain in the Group-demonstrating whole body listening. You are facing your communication partner while maintaining eye contact, and your body is still.
2. Ask a Question to a Person about that Person-asking a question to the person that relates to the topic.
ex. "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?"
3. Supporting Comment-a comment that supports the conversation and does not change the topic.
ex. "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?"
"My favorite flavor is chocolate chip."
"That sounds yummy." (supporting comment)
4. Add-A-Thought-an addition to the conversation that’s relevant to the topic, but may vary the topic somewhat.
ex. "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?"
"My favorite flavor is chocolate chip."
"That sounds yummy. I really like chocolate chip cookies too!" (add-a-thought).
